People often ask where they can donate goods (either new or gently used). We are happy to provide this list of possible recipients, but it is essential to understand a few conditions.

(1) Agencies are usually happy to accept your donations, but please remember that they have limited storage space. So they may not be able to accept everything you have to offer.

(2) Some agencies accept items all year-round, while others accept specific items at certain times of the year. You may want to call ahead to ensure that the agency is accepting donations.

(3) If items are used, please ensure they are still in good shape. For example, clothing should not be stained or torn. When nonprofits give to those in need, helping their clients maintain their dignity is vital.

(4) If you need a receipt, do not hesitate to ask for one. Donation intake personnel are often volunteers and may forget to offer a receipt.

NOTE: This list contains only Lee County agencies at this time. We will be adding other counties soon, so please check back often. Also, if you know of an agency that has specific needs, please let us know by emailing kim@unitedwaynems.org.
