Volunteer: Veteran-to-Veteran VolunteersThank You For Your Service
Gentiva is honored to serve those who have served our country. Our approach to caring for our veterans focuses on respectful inquiry, compassionate listening, and grateful acknowledgment of a life of dedication. We are also active partners with the We Honor Veterans program (part of the National Alliance for Care at Home). Veterans Supporting VeteransThere are some things that only a soldier understands. If you're a veteran looking for a way to give back, we invite you to consider becoming a volunteer. Our veteran volunteers show up in the lives of our patients and their families - to trade stories, show appreciation, and share moments of kindness when it matters most. Volunteer: Multiple Volunteer OptionsVolunteering at Gentiva Hospice comes in a variety of forms. If you are comfortable with face-to-face contact with the patients and their caregivers, you may choose to visit their homes or care facilities to offer companionship and socialization. You may even play games, read, or play music. In doing so, you bring comfort to the patients and respite to their caregivers. If, on the other hand, you do not feel comfortable in the home/facility setting, there are plenty of other ways you can help. Administrative support - including scanning documents, packing care baskets, and sorting reports - is always welcome. In addition, you may enjoy making calls to patients/caregivers to check in with them and remind them that we care and want to make things as easy for them as possible. We serve Lee, Monroe, Chickasaw, and Calhoun Counties. Email, call, or text Rebecca Nelson, volunteer coordinator, for more information. I'm happy to speak with you individually or make a presentation to any group of which you are a member. rebecca.nelson@gentivahs.com 662-321-2271 (c) 662-844-2417 (o) Agency: Gentiva Hospice (Lee, Monroe, Chickasaw, and Calhoun Counties) Volunteering at Gentiva Hospice comes in a variety of forms.
