Who We Are

Our Story:

On September 2, 2019, my life took an abrupt and unexpected turn when my 32-year-old daughter was killed in a car accident. She left behind three children. I never saw this coming, but God knew it all the time. God planted a seed in my heart even through my tragedy. “I want you to help others and to be a testimony, witness and a blessing to them.” Not only did He stop us in our tracks, He also gave us a warning that life is real; it is no fairy tale. Do not take it for granted, and that we only have one life. We look at and ask God to show us our purpose in life. I asked, “Was this planned for my life to be taking care of and raising my grandchildren”? My grandson said to me, “Grana, you can take better care of us.” As a grandparent, it was my heart’s desire to step up to the plate and take care of my grandchildren. I am incredibly grateful for God blessing my family and me with these wonderful children. God also made it possible for us to take care of them. Some families are unable to take care of their grandchildren, and it is heartbreaking for them.

SheN’s Granfparent Fund was created in honor of my daughter to help support the grandparents and children that have been left behind usually due to death, incarceration, alcohol, drugs, homelessness, etc. Both the children and the grandparents need help.

With SheN’s Grandparent Fund Community Foundation (SGFCF), we are working to create a network of grandparents that will serve as a hub of support, comfort, and encouragement to each other. This process will strengthen grandparents and give them the courage to continue in their journey of raising their grandchildren.

What We Do

This organization will help to offset many of the costs associated with raising children through the utilization of donations of in-kind and financial seeds. This support is most needed because most grandparents have not financially prepared to raise their grandchildren. Because we believe that our purpose on this earth is to ensure that every grandparent who is the guardian or caretaker of their grandchild, and every child that has lost their parent is provided with as much support as possible, we are constantly working to build and distribute our resources. We believe that the more support families receive, the easier life will be for the caregivers and the children. We have currently served over 500 needy families throughout the Quitman County community through food give-a ways and massive holiday give-aways and events. We want this program to be as far reaching as possible and to have life changing effects on everyone it reaches.
