Who We Are

The North Mississippi VISTA Project, a program of the McLean Institute at the University of Mississippi, is part of a national collaborative of AmeriCorps to alleviate poverty and improve the quality of life in Mississippi.  NMVP works to build sustainable systems that connects the University of Mississippi to underserved communities throughout an 11-county area in Mississippi.

What We Do

AmeriCorps VISTA members of the North Mississippi VISTA Project (NMVP) build capacity by developing new, meaningful, and sustainable connections between our university and the schools, education agencies, and community non-profit organizations already working to move the people of our region toward academic success.

The NMVP is seeking applicants for full-time summer and yearlong terms of service to fight poverty and build capacity for Title I school districts and non-profit organizations working to improve educational attainment, provide economic opportunities, promote healthy lifestyles, and increase food security among underserved youth and families in Mississippi.  While building valuable professional development skills, VISTA members can network with other passionate changemakers across NMVP partner sites and communities to brainstorm new ideas and collaborate on joint initiatives.  In such unprecedented times, work to alleviate poverty, empower communities, develop actionable partnerships, and create sustainable solutions is more urgent than ever.
